DO YOU CARE ABOUT STOKES BAY?

The Friends of Stokes Bay is a society founded in 1975 to safeguard the environment of Stokes Bay for present and future generations.

They seek to conserve and enhance the area as an open, clean and safe area for the enjoyment of all.

The Society monitors development proposals affecting the area and contributes to debates with the Borough and County Councils. It provides practical assistance and advice to the local authority.

The Friends of Stokes Bay have been involved in lobbying Gosport Council and our local M.P. about the recurring problem of illegal "travellers", they pressed for pedestrian crossings on Stokes Bay Road, and have been consulted about proposals for Fort Gilkicker.

NATURE CONSERVATION

We are concerned to care for the S.S.S.I. lagoons near Fort Gilkicker and the vast range of plant and animal species in the Gilkicker grasslands, on the shingle foreshore and throughout Stokes Bay.

SPORTING FACILITIES

We support swimming, sailing, walking, angling and other sporting activities at Stokes Bay and promote their safety.
